New Tech Notes Set for Release on September 1, 2009
Calgary, Alberta (August 27, 2009) – In less than a week, GEDCO’s hundreds of software users around the globe will gain access to a new technical support resource called “Tech Notes”, accessible from GEDCO’s VISTA® 9.0 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing and OMNI 3D® Seismic Survey Design and Modeling software. The new Tech Notes will supply users with theoretical and technical insight for the optimization of highly sophisticated geophysical solutions.
“Our software users, whether in Asia or Latin America, and from large E&P to small geophysical consultant, all provide a wealth of knowledge on how to best leverage the many functionalities found in OMNI 3D® and VISTA®,” acknowledged Jenny Hunt, Manager of Support Services at GEDCO. “With our new Tech Notes, the goal is to compile and enhance the many tips and tricks associated with the use of our products, so that more users can take part in this valuable knowledge sharing. Ultimately, we want to support our clients in the attainment of their geophysical objectives.”
Some of the topics to be covered in the first issue of OMNI 3D® Tech Notes include:
-
SPS Definition
-

“The Tech Notes will actually be evolving on an ongoing basis, because their content will be driven by software users’ frequent queries and suggestions on the products,” explained Hunt. “As software users continue to contact our technical support team, we will be expanding the scope of the Tech Notes. These Tech Notes will inevitably become very useful to all our software clients.”
GEDCO, one of Canada’s most respected, privately-owned geophysical companies, which is intently focused on developing, selling, supporting and applying client-driven geophysical software solutions, recently released versions 9.0 of its cutting-edge geophysical software solutions.
As the industry standard for seismic survey design and modeling, OMNI 3D® is used for the planning, execution and analysis of land, marine, transition zone, VSP and multi-component surveys. Offered in two sophisticated packages – OMNI 3D® Layout and OMNI 3D® Workshop – OMNI 3D® features a superior user-interface and a versatile multi-project handling capability which empower users to quickly and effectively optimize their seismic acquisition projects.
VISTA®, which is the market’s leading, privately-developed 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing software for Windows and LINUX, features 2D/3D Field Quality Control, 2D/3D Field Processing, 2D/3D Full Processing, and 2D VSP Processing packages for land, marine, transition zone, and VSP seismic data. VISTA® delivers the flexibility, handling, and ease of use required by users seeking reliable and rapid data analysis and processing.
“Our business model is built around developing products that meet our users’ growing geophysical software needs”, added Randy Kolesar, Manager, Software Division at GEDCO. “By offering users new support resources such as the Tech Notes, we are ensuring that our clients are keeping up with the latest technical advances in the software.”
GEDCO will be hosting an Annual Users’ Meeting in Calgary on September 10, 2009. On that day, clients will attend brief presentations on the new features available in OMNI 3D® and VISTA® 9.0.
Public product demonstrations will be available at the 2009 SEG in Houston held from October 25 to 30, 2009. Throughout this key industry function, GEDCO will be hosting booth #931 where product development and support specialists will be on site to answer questions.
Training opportunities for OMNI 3D® and VISTA® will also be available on the following dates:

ABOUT OMNI 3D® Seismic Survey Design & Modeling
First developed in Canada in 1985, OMNI 3D® is the most up-to-date collection of 3D seismic survey design modules in the industry. Automatic generation of an open database allows data access through all stages of planning, execution and analysis. From the new task wizards to the full scale plotting, OMNI 3D® remains the only survey design software needed in the office and in the field.
ABOUT VISTA® 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing Software
First developed in Canada in 1985, VISTA® is among the industry’s fastest selling 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing software packages. VISTA® which was the market’s first PC-based seismic data processing software is also available for the LINUX environment. It delivers proven algorithms for optimal quality control and processing of seismic data in the field or the office. VISTA® provides robust algorithms for Land, Marine and VSP processing and offers intuitive flows for complete seismic data processing. By taking advantage of VISTA®’s flexibility, reliability, and ease of use, processors increase their efficiency while maximizing the dependability of their results. VISTA® is available in four modules, namely, 2D/3D Field QC, 2D/3D Field Processing, and 2D/3D Full Processing, and VSP.
