GEDCO Reaches Out to Current and Prospective University Partners at 79th SEG in Houston

Calgary, Alberta (October 19, 2009) – GEDCO, Canada’s leading geophysical software company, will be hosting a university-focused function at the SEG tradeshow in Houston on Tuesday, October 27 from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Held at GEDCO’s booth #931, the event will feature a short overview of the company’s Global University Partnership Program followed by a technical presentation by Tania Mukherjee, Research Assistant from the Earth & Atmospheric Science Department at the University of Houston.

Miss Mukherjee has been using GEDCO’s innovative software through the University of Houston’s recent software partnership agreement and will be presenting: Acquiring and Analyzing 3D VSP from micro to macro scales.

As part of GEDCO’s Global University Partnership Program, accredited academic institutions around the world can obtain sponsored license usage of OMNI 3D® and VISTA® geophysical software for educational purposes only.

As the industry standard for seismic survey design and modeling, OMNI 3D® is used for the effective planning, execution and analysis of land, marine, transition zone, VSP and multi-component surveys.

VISTA®, a cutting-edge 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing system, is used around the world for the rapid and reliable analysis and processing of land, marine, transition zone, and VSP seismic data on Windows and Linux.

“For GEDCO, partnering with geophysical university programs worldwide is a real win-win situation,” stresses Andreas Cordsen, President and CEO for GEDCO.

“Indeed, as part of our university-focused program, academic institutions gain access to cutting-edge geophysical software tools that directly support the professional development of up-and-coming geophysicists. In turn, the feedback GEDCO gets from university users - ensures the ongoing development of our products. In the end, this delivers direct value to our corporate users who seek the latest and best software innovations,” specified Cordsen.

Since the program’s inceptions, in excess of 35 universities and hundreds of students around the world have enjoyed unlimited usage of GEDCO’s progressive geophysical software. On an annual basis, this represents a multi-million dollar annual investment by GEDCO in university education.

“Our vision is to have OMNI 3D® and VISTA® be available to every single geophysics student,” added Cordsen. “At each SEG show, we get closer to this vision by establishing new and exciting contacts. We are confident it will be the case again this year,” he concluded.

Throughout the tradeshow and in addition to Miss Mukherfee’s presentation, GEDCO invites potential university partners to attend any of the following in-booth events.
